Adopt-a-Pet

Good morning! You may have noticed things look somewhat different around here; we spruced up the look of the blog for the new year, and updated some of the back end as well. Unfortunately during that update a couple of outdated posts got republished as current, causing some confusion among readers. We apologize for the confusion, but appreciate the eagle-eyed subscribers that brought it to our attention – thank you! Rest assured that all content and information here (as well as on the main site) is now accurate and current.

Moving on… a week ago Brian had the privilege of working with Adopt-a-Pet.com once again. This time the shoot occurred at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, with David Backes of the St. Louis Blues, his wife Kelly, and their three dogs. It was a great shoot and we look forward to seeing these images on billboards around St. Louis in the near future. For the moment, we have a few behind-the-scenes images to share:

The day after the shoot, David & Kelly were out hiking with their dogs when Rosie (pictured in that last image) was hit by a car and ran off. After much searching she was discovered in the Backes’ back yard and thankfully needed only minor treatment. She is now home recovering and we’re all very grateful that this story has a happy ending! The search for Rosie even made it on to the local news:

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Chicago White Sox pitcher Mark Buerhle and his wife Jamie for Adopt-a-Pet.com, a non-profit pet adoption charity. The Buerhles are no strangers to animal causes, having previously been involved with a charity wine (“Buerhlot,” the proceeds from which supported an animal shelter in southern Illinois) and “Sox For Strays,” a pet adoption-promoting program the Buerhles actually founded.

Shooting Mark and Jamie at U.S. Cellular Field was a blast. Their dogs Duke, Diesel and Drake are a rambunctious bunch but were quite well-behaved when it came time to take pictures (having treats and tempting baseballs right behind the camera never hurts). Standing on the field right behind home plate at a professional ballpark leaves quite an impression, especially when photographing someone as accomplished as Mark: a perfect game, another no-hitter, and holder of the current MLB record for number of consecutive batters retired (45). In spite of all this, Mark was affable and incredibly easy to work with, as was Jamie. A huge thank you goes out to them for that.

Be on the lookout for billboards and other Out Of Home advertising in the near future around Chicagoland. Here’s the photo we took:
